  • Event: Concert 8/25

Bring a picnic blanket, chairs, and snacks to share with your friends. We will have the AEA banner to help you find us.

The Manhattan Beach Concerts in the Park is an annual event held at Polliwog Park each year.

Bring your blankets, lawn chairs, and picnics, then sit back and relax to the sounds of summer! Seating is first come, first served! Concerts in the Park are free and well-attended; early arrival to secure prime lawn seating is encouraged. Concertgoers are asked to leave their pets at home. Use low-backed chairs to minimize visibility issues behind you. Don’t block the aisles. Be courteous to others. No smoking in the park. Watch your children, keep them off the stage and the stage apron. Climbing the trees in the park is not permitted. Please place your trash in the bins located throughout the park. NO– pets, barbecues, skateboards, scooters, or roller blades are allowed in the park. Concert staff and security are not responsible for unattended chairs, blankets, and other picnic items. Please do not remove items (such as chairs and blankets) that do not belong to you.

Parking: Please note that parking can be difficult around the park during the concert series. Carpooling, walking, and the use of taxi/rideshare is encouraged. All handicap parking will be available at the Begg Pool parking lot, and a rideshare/taxi pick-up and drop-off area will be located on Manhattan Beach Boulevard.

  • Paddleboarding 8/10

    RSVP WITH VENDORS!

Hi everyone! Suzanne here. I’m organizing our SUP/lunch event for Saturday, August 10.  Here’s what you need to know (please read in full):

    • Time:  11:30 (this is a change from the start time originally posted)

    • Location:  Redondo Beach Pier/ King Harbor at Pedal Port location (this is almost directly in front of The Slip Bar & Eatery – see photos below)

    • To Reserve a Stand-Up Paddleboard:  Go to https://www.pedalport.biz/redondo, click “Book Now”, go to SUP Rentals, find/select date (Aug 10), and book yours for the 11:30 timeslot.  Cost: $15 for one hour.  This is effectively first book, first serve.  If you find that the slot is no longer available when you go to book, let me know and I’ll check with my contact to see if they can make additional SUPs available.  Otherwise, there is an alternative rental spot at the Pier I can refer you to (but it costs more).

    • If you have your own SUP:  Please join us! You are not permitted to unload at this location, but you probably already know where the King Harbor public launching point is (more/less directly behind the Seaside Lagoon).

Lunch/Brunch:  Directly after (~ 12:30-12:45) at The Slip Bar & Eatery: https://www.theslipbar.com/redondobeach. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO JOIN US FOR LUNCH (whether or not you plan to SUP) so I can reserve adequate space for us.  As usual, I did some reconnaissance first and was very happy with my order (delicious breakfast burrito and bloody Mary!).  😊  (After The Slip, whoever wants to continue the fun can mosey on next door for live music at Project Barley, and then to Naja’s!)

  • Event: Pool Party 7/27

Join us for the annual AEA Summer Pool Party in El Segundo at Brian and Laura’s amazing party pad! Pool, hot tub, and plenty of flotation devices!  Bring your swimwear, towel, and sunscreen =)

Please use the following link and sign up to bring a salad, an appetizer, a side dish, or dessert to share. Beverages are always welcome!

Brian will be grilling delicious BBQ chicken, pork, and burgers. Participants are requested to contribute $10 towards the cost of the meats, bottled water, plates, cups, napkins, utensils, etc.

We will also need a few people to help with clean-up when the party wraps up.

Brian and Laura’s private home address will be provided after you register, in case you don’t have it.

It’s going to be epic, see you there!

  • Event: Beauty & Beast 7/25

Come cheer on John R. Nolan, who will be performing in Aerospace’s production of Beauty and the Beast! Group tickets are being organized by Karyn Urrea, and if we get 10 or more people, the price is just $22 per person.

Please RSVP by July 15, but don’t wait until the last minute—Karyn needs a headcount in advance!

We’ll meet at the theater box office at 7:15 PM. If you’d like to grab dinner beforehand, join us for an optional happy hour at Lazy Dog Café in Torrance (behind Del Amo Mall) from 5:30 to 7:00 PM.

Let’s make it a fun night out with great company and live theater!

  • Event: Brouwerij Bands 7/7

The event starts at 11:00 a.m., so feel free to arrive early if you wish. Enjoy a beautiful afternoon listening to free live music at this great outdoor venue with covered picnic tables Brunch specials from your favorite food trucks + THINGS hard seltzer slushies, Micheladas, and of course beer. Look for Chandra Fechtelkotter and the AEA Ski Club banner at one of the picnic tables.

The Brouwerij West brand was founded in 2010 by talented brewer Brian Mercer, who, after a career of importing Belgian Candi Sugar for some of the top breweries in the country, spent years as a contract brewer traveling throughout California passionately brewing Brouwerij West beers without a home brewery of his own.

In 2016, Mercer, along with friend Dave Holop, partnered up to open one of California’s most unique brewery locations in the port town of San Pedro, California. In February of 2016, the new Brouwerij West location opened its doors in a former Port of Los Angeles Warehouse originally built by the U.S. Navy during World War II. The location was a production brewery, tasting room, event and music venue encompassing 26,000 sq. ft., and 17,000 sq. ft. as an outdoor courtyard/beer garden. The tasting room hosted a multitude of events, including beer festivals, concerts, weddings, conferences and more.
